Beaches.
The island of Ibiza has an outstanding choice of many beautiful beaches lovely beaches. Most of the Islands holiday resorts offer good quality sandy beaches with the usual tourist facilities including sunbeds, parasols and various water sports. Below is a number of bays and beaches that you may wish to visit while on holiday in Ibiza. Many of these beaches will require you to hire your own transport. Some of these beaches are connected by water taxis which is a good way to clear the cobwebs after a late night out.
Las Salinas – Popular beach with the Ibiza people along with the rich and famous. Soft powder sand with clear aquamarine seas. Good beach bars/restaurants playing latest sounds, some with afternoon party atmosphere.
Es Cavalett - Just round the corner from Salinas. Another beautiful strip of pale soft sand with dunes at the rear. Quality beach restaurants with offering fresh fish and seafood. Also popular with nudists and the Ibiza gay scene.
Cala Bassa – Beautiful curve of soft golden sand with good beach facilities including some water sports and a number of beach bars offering snacks. Get there early as the San Antonio young and lively crowd arrive by the boats after mid day.
Cala Conta – Lovely clear sea and soft powder sand. There are two bays broken by a small headland that has a Bar/snack looking out across the clear blue Mediterranean. This is a beautiful part of Ibiza but can get over crowded in high summer. Go early and enjoy before the crowds arrive.
Cala Salada – This is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Island. Situated just to the north of San Antonio, here you can find two small bays. The first with a good quality restaurant, popular with locals at weekend. The bay is beautiful and the beach a mix of sand and shingle. However to the right of this bay after a scramble over some very large rocks you will come to one of the best beaches on the Island. Its a real delight, with a couple of tiny inlets the a crescent of soft sand. Worth the effort, but do be careful.
Cala Vadella – In the south of Ibiza, this small holiday resort has good facilities, a few shops and a couple of good standard restaurants. Popular with families and with a lovely sandy beach and safe swimming.
Cala D’Hort – In the south of the Island with the rock of Es Vedra sitting out in the bay. This is a popular beach with the Ibiza town people and regular Ibiza visitors. The beach is good, mix of sand and pebbles. Lovely for swimming in the clear seas. Quality fish restaurant above the beach, however the prices are not cheap.
Cala Tarida – A lovely stretch of sand with all the normal facilities. Safe swimming and a few nice restaurants for a sack or lunch. Can get busy in high summer as a fair amount of development has taken place in this area.
Cala Nova – Situated just to the north of Es Cana, this lovely beach offers a delightful cove with a number of sandy inlets. At the far end of the bay is a small chiinguito/bar that offers good quality lunches and snacks, worth a look.
Portinatx - A collection of beautiful bays with crystal clear waters. The area has had some tourist development of regular standard package tour hotels and apartments. The main drawback is the difficulty in getting anything worth eating in the resort itself. However if you venture just up the road to the more natural quiet bays around Cala Xarraca its great for swimming and here you can find a couple of restaurants that offer good quality local food. Fresh fish and meat.
Aguas Blanca – This is further up the Island on the east coast, just to the north of the holiday town of Es Cana. Good beach bar/chiringuito with lively atmosphere in high summer. Popular with nudists at one end of the beach. Lovely clear clean sea for most of the year, making swimming a pleasure.
There are a number of other good bays around the Island, but we believe that this offers a good balance of beaches to visit.

Formentera.
The beautiful Island of Formentera deserves a special mention. The island sits just across the water from the Island of Ibiza and takes about half an hour by local ferry. If sitting on a beautiful beach and swimming in clear blue seas is your idea of heaven then this is the place for you. The Island has become very popular with young Italians during the month of August and you will see why they make the journey if you hop over from Ibiza. Truly fantastic beaches, check out Illetas which is an unbelievable strip of beach with shallow warm sea. A couple of beach bars/restaurants including Juan Y Andrea sit on the sands, perfect location for lunch but very high prices. Mitjon or Arenal on the other side of the Island are also worth considering, soft powder sand and the restaurants here are more realistic with there pricing. Some parts of this area popular with nude bathing. This whole Island is a beach lovers paradise.
